Character History:
Harry was born to Lily and James Potter, during a very trying time. The wizarding world was at war with Voldemort and his death eaters, and things were looking pretty grim all around. James and Lily hid away in Godrics Hollow, in a place protected by the Fidelius charm, so they could raise their son in relative safety, as the dark lord had marked them for death. Unfortunately, their secret keeper, Peter Pettigrew, was working as a spy and gave their location away. Voldemort came, killed Harry's parents, and then tried to kill Harry as well, but his mother's sacrifice saved him. Her unconditional love protected him from Voldemort, and was the reason the killing curse backfired and hit Voldemort instead. It seemed like Voldemort had been defeated, but he had created horcrux's to contain parts of his soul, and so he was still technically alive. He just didn't have a physical body.
Anyway, Harry was sent to stay with his mother's sister's family, the Dursleys. The Dursley's didn't like Harry. He was a constant reminder of Lily and the wizarding world, both of which were looked down on by Petunia and Vernon. Harry was treated badly. He slept in a cupboard under the stairs, was always second to Dudley, never got presents...Given Harry's parentage, weird things would sometimes happen around him, like his hair growing or him suddenly ending up on the school roof when he tried to get away from Dudley and his crew of bullies, and whenever these things happened, he was punished by being locked in his cupboard and/or being deprived of meals. Basically, his life kind of sucked. Harry didn't know about his parents other than they supposedly died in a car crash, and he wasn't able to explain the things that happened around him.
That is until he got his Hogwarts letter, anyway. Which was an ordeal in and of itself. The Dursley's tried to keep Harry from getting his letter, by taking it away, which led to more and more letters arriving. In a desperate attempt to get control of the situation, the Dursley's took Harry away, first to a bed and breakfast, and then to a shack out on a little island off the coast. It's there that Hagrid showed up, midnight on the night Harry turned eleven. He gave Harry his letter, told him about the wizarding world and his parents, and then whisked him away the next morning to go shopping for school supplies. Along the way, Hagrid had to pick up a suspicious parcel from Gringots, which piqued Harry's curiosity, but Hagrid wouldn't say anything more than 'It's Hogwarts business.
Harry had to spend another month with the Dursley's, but it was worth it in the end because he knew he was going away somewhere great. The only problem was, once he was dropped off at the train station, he had no idea where With the help of Ron's family, he figured out how to get to Platform Nine and three quarters, where the train to Hogwarts was, and set off for his first year at school. On the train, he became fast friends with Ron, decided he didn't like Malfoy, and ate a lot of wizard snacks.
Harry was sorted into Gryffindor, which he was very happy about, and for the most part, his year started out relatively normal. He enjoyed his classes, had that one teacher that creeped him out and seemed to hate his guts (snape lookin' at you) and had an all around good time. Harry even ended up on the Qudditch team, though he hadn't even really meant to. Malfoy had taken Neville's remembrall and flown off with it. Outraged, Harry flew after him. Malfoy chucked the clear glass sphere, and Harry caught it without any difficulty, impressing Professor McGonagall.
Malfoy challenges Harry to a duel afterwards, which Harry accepts. It's a trick though, Malfoy had set them up to get caught, but Harry and Ron ( and Hermione and Neville, who end up going along without meaning to ) manage to escape, but they end up hiding in a room that had been deemed off limits. And not without reason, given there was a three headed dog in there. They realize that the dog is standing on a trap door, which makes Harry realize that that's probably where the package Hagrid picked up was.
At Halloween, a troll ends up in the school, which causes a panic. Harry and Ron end up going to save Hermione, because they're the only one's that know she's not at dinner, and is instead crying in the bathroom (It's their fault she's there, because Ron insulted her after class, without knowing she was listening.) They fight the troll as best as a couple of first years can, with Harry sticking his wand up the Troll's nose and Ron hitting it with it's club, and after everything is all said and done, Hermione ends up their friend.
Through a series of events, Harry ends up figuring out that Snape had tried to get past the three headed dog. He didn't have much time to meditate on this before the first Quidditch match started, though, and what a match it was. Someone bewitched Harry's broom, and he was nearly thrown from it during the match. Hermione and Ron saw Snape staring at Harry while muttering what looked like and incantation, so they assumed it was him, and said so in front of Hagrid. Hagrid assured them that Snape wouldn't do anything to go against Dumbledore, and accidentally let slip that the three headed dog was his, and that what it was guarding had something to do with Nicolas Flamel. Not that Harry, Ron, or Hermione knew who that was, and they couldn't seem to find any information on him.
Come Holiday time, Harry got an Invisibility Cloak for Christmas, one that had apparently belonged to his father. Eager to try it out, Harry slipped out after everyone's asleep, and went to see if he could find any information on Flamel in the Restricted section of the Library. Unfortunately, one of the books started screaming, which meant Harry very nearly got caught, but he ran into a room to hide for a while. It was there he found the Mirror of Erised, a magical object that reflected whatever the viewer wanted most. Harry, of course, saw his family, and he was so transfixed by the mirror that he kept going back to see it. At least, he did until Dumbledore put a stop to it, warning Harry that it could be very dangerous, and that wizards had wasted away in front of it.
Harry and the others eventually figured out who Flamel was, thanks to Neville giving Harry a Dumbledore card. It turned out that he had created the Sorcerer's stone, which could create the Elixer of life. Which gave Snape motive, because who wouldn't want eternal life? They couldn't really act on their suspicions, because it was all conjecture, but the trio was determined to get to the bottom of things, and prevent Snape from figuring out how to get the stone.
Hagrid threw a wrench in their plans, though, when he won a dragon egg off some guy, and decided to care for it. Harry and his friends had to help Hagrid get rid of the dragon, and planned to have Ron's brother Charlie send some people to pick it up in the middle of the night, from the top of the astronomy tower. Ron got bit by the dragon and had to go to the infirmary, which led to Malfoy catching wind of their plans. Harry and Hermione got the dragon safely away, but they forgot the invisibility cloak, and they got caught, thanks to Mafloy tipping Filch off.
And so, they got detention, right along with Mafloy of course. They were to go out into the forest with Hagrid, to see if they could find a unicorn that had been badly injured. Harry, Mafloy, and Hagrid's dog Fang were the ones to stumble upon it. Mafloy and Fang booked it, but Harry nearly got attacked by the cloaked figure that was trying to feed on the unicorn. Harry was rescued by a young centaur that helped him realize that the sorcerer's stone was more important than he had previously thought, and that it was voldemort that was after it.
After their exams, Harry, Ron, and Hermione spoke to Hagrid and realized that whoever was after the stone knew how to get past fluffy. They knew that the stone thief wouldn't make a move with Dumbledore around, but Harry was still worried given Voldemort was very obviously involved. They were going to go to Dumbledore with the information they had, when they were informed that he had received an urgent message from the Ministry of Magic and had left the grounds.
So of course, they took matters into their own hands. They got past fluffy by using the wooden flute Hagrid had given Harry for Christmas and escaped the Devil Snare at the bottom of the trap door thanks to Hermione. There were other trials, too. Harry had to fly around and catch a key to unlock a door, Ron had to help them beat a giant game of chess--where he got knocked out--and Hermione figured out a riddle so that Harry could go on ahead and confront the thief.
Who turned out to be professor Quirrell, the nervous, stuttering, defense against the dark arts teacher. WHOOPS?? Turns out he was behind it all, and that Voldemort was grafted to the back of his head. Anyway, he tied Harry up while he tried to figure out how to get the stone out of the mirror, and eventually had to use Harry to get it. Quirrell tried to get the stone off of Harry once he got it, but it turned out that he couldn't touch Harry's bare skin without burning his own. So of course Harry used that to his advantage, and grabbed Qurrell's face to keep him at bay. The contact also hurt Harry, though, and he ended up blacking out before Dumbledore burst in to save the day.
Harry woke up in the infirmary, where Dumbledore explained everything that happened, and Harry's year ended on a positive note. Gryffindor won the house cup, people had forgiven him for losing all those points when he got caught smuggling Norbert, and he made plans with Ron to visit over the summer. Everything was looking up.
Over the course of the summer, though, Harry wondered if things were actually as good as they had seemed. He hadn't heard from any of his friends at all. They didn't even wish him a happy birthday! Harry found out this was because of Dobby the House elf was trying to keep Harry from going back to Hogwarts, because apparently bad things were coming. Dobby was so desperate to do this, that he ruined an important business dinner for Vernon and made it look like it was Harry's fault. Harry was locked up in his room, and it seemed like he wouldn't be able to go to Hogwarts or do anything for the rest of the summer.
But Ron, Fred, and George came to the rescue in their dad's flying car, and brought them back to their home for the rest of the summer. Harry enjoyed his time there, and went shopping for school supplies with them (though he used floo powder wrong and ended up in the sketchy part of Diagon alley on accident ). Things would have probably continued to look up, but when it came time to board the train for school, Harry and Ron discovered that they couldn't get onto platform nine and three quarters. Fearing for their school careers, they decided to take the flying car to Hogwarts instead, and...crashed into the Whomping Willow, which is where I'll be taking Harry from.
Abilities/Special Powers:
Harry is a wizard! Which means he can do spells and the like, so long as he has his wand handy. He hasn't started his second year, yet, though, so he only really knows the basics of a lot of things, and he has a lot to learn before he can do anything complex or difficult. That being said, he's a natural flyer, and knows how to use a broomstick really well. And because a piece of Voldemort's soul got lodged in Harry's head when the dark wizard tried to kill him, he can also speak to and understand snakes.
Third-Person Sample:
With a sigh, Harry closed the book he was currently reading. There was nothing about escape in that one, either, and he was feeling a little discouraged. So he packed up for the day. He put the books back where he found them and wandered from the Library. He would go back and look some more another day, bur for now he wanted to go and see if one of the Vendors could get him a broomstick, because he missed flying, and hoped that maybe he would get a fresh perspective, once he was up in the air.
First-Person Sample:
Er--So, I know this place is alright most of the time, but could someone tell me what to expect, when things do get bad? So I can prepare myself. Someone told me about events when I first arrived, but they didn't really go into detail. So I figured--well, I figured it was probably a good idea, to learn a little more about them.
Also, is something wrong with the closets? I heard they could get me anything I wanted, but it keeps giving me sticks when I ask for my wand, and ordinary brooms when I ask fro my broomstick.

Wonderland was, for all intents and purposes, an alright place. Harry had everything he needed. He had clothes, and food, and anything he could want, really. But he still missed Hogwarts and his friends, and he wondered if Ron had made it to safety after the crash. He hoped that what he had heard, about time standing still while in Wonderland, was true, but part of him worried that it wasn't, and that he had been expelled from Hogwarts for not showing up when he was supposed to, and that he would go right back to living with the Dursley's once he got out of Wonderland. It made him a little sad to think about.
But at the same time, Harry didn't want to go back right away. It wasn't fair that so many people were trapped in a place like Wonderland, and even if he wouldn't be able to remember, going home while everyone else stayed behind didn't seem right. He thought that there might be something he could do to help them all escape or find information or--something. So he busied himself with the library. It was what Hermione would do, if she were there, and while his head started swimming whenever he read for too long, he tried to keep at it because it was the right thing to do.
